I've previously complained about trying to keep my timeline and character's ages straight, and a few months ago I discovered a solution.
Instead of coming up with actual years and trying to keep those numbers straight along with birthdays and events and how old everyone is when X happens, I chose a single letter to represent point 0 on my timeline. For me, 0 is the year Frostbite occurs. So F=0.
In Frostbite, Nicole turns 16. So she is F:16.
Events that take place a year before Frostbite are F-1. One year after Frostbite is F+1.
