On Apartment Searches and Fuzzy Things

We found an apartment. Sort of. Nothing is definite yet, but we’re hoping for this one. It’s about three times as big as our current apartment, costs three times as much, and has an extra bedroom that we can make into an office. It is, however, the best deal we could find in New Jersey near the train line. The others were smaller for about the same price, and this one includes utilities in the rent.

The only downside is that it doesn’t allow pets. We’re hoping to talk them into bending the rules for us (the real-estate agent said all of the places she sent us might be persuaded for a small pet)

You see, every two or three months I get this wimpy, sniffly hankering for my cat. And I make Alex drive me to Little Rock on the weekend and take me to a pet store so I can see some real live fuzzies. It’s never very good, of course, because I’m so afraid of the people selling the cats that I can’t really enjoy them. But just a little cuddle, even a gimpy one, can last me for another month or two.

I’m thinking about volunteering at an animal shelter to play with and bathe the animals — preferably the cats. I’m not very good with dogs, because I don’t know many and I think it’s kind of gross that they don’t bury their . . . you know. Anyway, I love bathing cats and I love playing with cats. Also, I think it would be an awesome volunteer project for a church youth group — along with visiting group homes of foster kids. It’d even be cool if we could take some of the animals from the shelter to visit with the kids at the group home. Or at an old folks’ home. ^_^ Don’t you think?

Look at this: Purr-Fect Privy Litter Containment System. Classy. It keeps the litter off the floor.
