My little Acer laptop works quite well for word-processing and has the added "bonus" of melting if you try to play any high-end games like WoW on it. So that would be nice and safe for you. It was about $600 after rebate, is very light and probably pretty durable (at least, I'd expect more durability than the last one that blew apart because of Mr. Tiger Pants).

Also, have you seriously considered just playing or (or at most 2) character(s) on WoW? It took me a while, but I'm really liking Manasseh my warlock and because the higher-level stuff requires so much time, I see little point/benefit to playing an alt at this point in time. PERHAPS once I have all my uber-gear and have unlocked the necessary instances (you have to reach a certain reputation with certain factions to even enter most high-level instances) I'll go back to playing another character. Until then, it's work during the day (yeah, I know, this isn't "work" -- I'm taking a break before my shower) and WoW in the evenings.
