More Productive Procrastination

Though I finished my second book and have gone back to re-outline and cut the fat off my first book (both husband and brother say the second book is better, and I can’t let that continue), I have started a third book instead of pursuing the outline of Frostbite.  >_>  Book three is coming along pretty rapidly, and I’m excited about it, though I’d never expected to give this particular character powers.  But it will tie up a loose end from Frostbite and revisit a character who ran off into the night.  She surprised me when she slipped into this story so effectively.

I’ll take my laptop to Christmas with my family and will probably be able to get some work done while the menfolk watch Cowboy Bebop… again.

(I liked Cowboy Bebop the first time, but I’m more of a Sailor Moon girl.)

Twilight Movie

We’ve seen it twice.  I haven’t seen a movie in the theater more than once since Jurassic Park. (Joel McHale does it best.)

I’ve found (from talking to friends) that if you’ve read the books, you go completely insane over it.  If you haven’t, you don’t know what the big deal is.

I particularly wanted a lot more of the Cullen family than the movie gives, because they’re a much bigger and more interesting part than the movie is able to show.  But there are a lot of specific details in the movie that you can only really appreciate if you’ve read the books, like how Bella doesn’t look at Edward when she has to answer him, and it just feels great to be able to recognize these details and see how close to the book they actually stayed.  I found myself watching the Cullens in the background — as often as not, they’re doing something interesting instead of just standing there.

Alex-husband appreciated the music in particular.  They really made some great choices.

When it comes out on DVD, we’re getting the BlueRay/Hi-Def version… even though we don’t have anything to play it on.
